ACCOMODATION TO GROW FIVE-FOLD IN SAUDI FIFA HOST CITIES
Saudi Arabia has outlined its plans to boost the accommodation inventory across five cities to over 230,000 rooms before the Fifa World Cup 2034 event. This marks a five-fold increase compared to the current available inventory of 47,000 units across Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Khobar, Abha and Neom. The kingdom provided additional details on increasing its accommodation inventory in the host cities in its official bidbook document submitted to Fifa earlier this week. The inventory in Riyadh is planned to increase from 21,116 rooms to 127,275 rooms. These include 32,616 three-star hotel keys, 28,674 four-star rooms, 42,554 five-star hotel rooms and 2,315 serviced apartments. In Jeddah, the pipeline sits at 7,295 three-star hotel rooms, 9,178 four-star keys, 9,320 hotel rooms and 3,842 serviced apartments. The inventory in Al-Khobar will increase from 10,534 rooms to 17,504 rooms. These include an additional 654 three-star rooms, 3,997 four-star keys, 2,049 five-star hotel rooms and 270 serviced apartments. Abha is expected to offer a total of 19,697 accommodation units. Of these, 3,667 will be new three-star rooms, 7,604 four-star units, 4,056 five-star keys and 3,619 serviced apartments. At Neom, the plans are to offer a total of 24,438 rooms, comprising a pipeline of 5,044 three-star units, 8,129 four-star keys, 9,321 five-star hotel rooms and 915 serviced apartments. The official selection of Saudi Arabia as the 2034 host is expected to be confirmed on 11 December. (ICE RIYADH)
