CYPRUS PETROLEUM SALES INCREASE BY 4.6 PER CENT IN JULY

Cyprus saw an increase in the sales of petroleum products during July, which totalled 134,484 tonnes, marking a 4.6 per cent increase compared to July 2023.  According to a report released on Tuesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat), there was a rise in the sales of marine gasoil, which jumped by 11.9 per cent.  Aviation kerosene and heavy fuel oil recorded increases of 0.6 per cent and 14.5 per cent, respectively.  Additionally, sales of liquefied petroleum gas rose by 10.7 per cent, heating gasoil by 8.7 per cent, road diesel by 7.9 per cent, and motor gasoline by 7.4 per cent.  On the other hand, kerosene saw a decrease of 25.8 per cent in sales, and light fuel oil also fell by 4.8 per cent.  Furthermore, the sales figures from filling stations were particularly encouraging, having increased by 7.7 per cent to 60,678 tonnes.  Comparatively, the month-to-month data from June to July 2024 showed a 5.6 per cent rise in overall sales.  Noteworthy were the increases in aviation kerosene provisions, up by 11.4 per cent, and in the sales of road diesel and gasoline, up by 8.1 per cent and 7.5 per cent, respectively.  However, it is worth noting that despite the general uptick in sales, the total stocks of petroleum products at the end of July 2024 experienced a significant drop of 36.4 per cent compared to the end of the previous month.  Finally, over the period from January to July 2024, total sales increased by 1.6 per cent compared to the same period in the previous year.
