Airbus Helicopters acquires 90% stake in Eurocopter Kazakhstan EngineeringFranco-German Airbus Helicopters has become the owner of 90% of the shares in Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering, thereby receiving a controlling stake, Airbus Helicopters announced.Previously, this company owned 50% of Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering, the remaining 50% being owned by the national company Kazakhstan Engineering. Apparently, the Franco-German company bought another 40% of the shares in the joint venture acquiring a controlling stake. The amount and details of the transaction were not disclosed.Airbus Helicopters noted that the Kazakh company has been renamed Airbus Helicopters Kazakhstan Engineering."By acquiring a majority stake in our long-standing joint venture, we are reaffirming our commitment to Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan plays a key role for Airbus Helicopters in the Central Asian market, with more than 60 Airbus helicopters in service. We look forward to further expanding our presence in the country and strengthening our close relationship with our customers, in particular the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which operates a fleet of more than 20 H145 Family helicopters for medical evacuation," Thomas Hein, Head of Europe at Airbus Helicopters, is quoted as saying.Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering is a joint venture established in April 2011. The project was implemented on a parity basis: 50% NC Kazakhstan Engineering JSC and 50% the Franco-German company Airbus Helicopters.The plant is engaged in the sale, assembly and maintenance of helicopters, as well as in the training of technicians in the CIS and Central Asia.
