Saudi Arabia’s Dana Bay Downtown Fund Company (DBDFC) has allowed firms until 14 November to submit bids for a tender to develop a mixed-use, five-star beach resort in the Dana Bay area of Al-Khobar in the Eastern Province. The tender was issued on 14 August, with an initial submission deadline of 25 September. The resort will be managed by UK-headquartered InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) under the InterContinental brand. The InterContinental Al-Khobar Dana Bay will offer 269 keys, including 139 guest rooms and suites, 90 residences and 40 villas. The project’s development manager is local firm Jenan Real Estate. Canadian engineering firm Colliers Project Leaders is the project management consultant. UAE-based Ehaf Consulting Engineering is the supervision consultant. In November 2022, IHG Hotels & Resorts had expanded its portfolio in Saudi Arabia by signing a management agreement with Dana Bay Tourism Company for a new InterContinental hotel. The InterContinental Al-Khobar Dana Bay will be located 30 kilometres (km) from the city centre and 45km from King Fahd International airport. The signing of the InterContinental Al-Khobar Dana Bay agreement is in line with IHG’s expansion strategy in Saudi Arabia.
