Azerbaijan President, Kazakhstan PM discuss joint projects in oil and gas sector.President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov in Baku on Monday. The parties discussed projects in the energy and transport sectors."President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that during the visit of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan there will be an in-depth discussion of important projects, implementation of the agreements reached and continuation of close cooperation in all areas in the future," the Azerbaijani presidential website said.Bektenov conveyed to Aliyev the greetings of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.Touching upon the potential of bilateral relations, Bektenov noted that the governments of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are making efforts to implement the agreements reached between the presidents of the two countries. In accordance with the instructions of the heads of state, active work is being carried out on the development of the Trans-Caspian multimodal transport route, noting that cargo traffic along this route increased by 60% by 2024."During the conversation, the parties expressed satisfaction with the development of comprehensive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. It was emphasised that over the past three years the mutual trade turnover has grown almost threefold, the volume of cargo transport, including transit, along the transport corridors is increasing," the report said.In addition, the parties discussed issues of support for investment projects through a joint investment fund, implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas sector, including prospects for increasing the volume of transportation of Kazakh oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline."The connection of the energy systems of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan via an underwater cable within the framework of the agreement on green energy and the development of cooperation in the field of green energy were also discussed," the information said.
