GLOBAL LEADERS IN INFRASTRUCTURE TO GATHER FOR INVESTMENT FORUM IN MACAU

Over 3,000 members of the political, business, and academic circles from more than 60 countries and regions will show up for an international forum on infrastructure investment in Macau early next month. The 14th edition of the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum – scheduled to take place at The Venetian Macao from 1 June to 2 June – aims to invigorate the global economic recovery with a focus on green and low-carbon development trends. Among the participants are over 60 ministerial-level guests, enterprise representatives from 250 contractors, executives from international organisations and financial institutions, with the number of registered attendees said to have doubled compared to the previous year. The forum consists of two main themed forums, 10 parallel forums, and a number of special events, exploring topics relevant to new energy, international cooperation, and smart rail transport. In the meantime, an accompanying exhibition will also take place, showcasing engineering machinery, energy equipment, and building materials. Additionally, the event is expected to feature the release of two reports on infrastructure development indexes for countries covered by the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and Portuguese-speaking countries respectively. The Ministry of Commerce will also organise the 9th China-LAC Infrastructure Cooperation Forum during the event to deepen cooperation between China and Latin America and promote infrastructure interconnectivity between the two sides. Since the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum was moved to Macau in 2012, the event has steadily gained momentum in terms of scale and international influence, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute said. As many as 19 project agreements were signed at last year’s edition, with 210 business talks and eight parallel forums held. (ICE HONG KONG)
