First communication satellite assembled in Kazakhstan to be launched in 2026The first communication satellite that will be manufactured at the Astana-based Spacecraft Assembly and Testing Complex is scheduled to be launched in 2026, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and the Aerospace Industry said in a press release on Thursday.Bagdat Musin, the head of the ministry, held a series of meetings in France to discuss joint projects in satellite production, according to the press release.During a meeting with the leadership of Thales Alenia Space, Musin discussed joint projects for the production of communication satellites in order to replace KazSat satellites and remote sensing satellites whose service life is expiring.The meeting with Airbus Defence and Space discussed issues relating to the operation of the Spacecraft Assembly and Testing Complex and the manufacturing of satellites, according to the press release."Kazakhstan plans to manufacture communication satellites together with French specialists, and the first satellite that will be assembled in Kazakhstan is expected to be launched in 2026," the press release says.In 2010, Kazakhstan and France organized a joint venture, Ghalam LLP, with the aim of creating and operating the Spacecraft Assembly and Testing Complex under the partnership agreement between the two countries.
