MAWANI TO BUILD $533M FUEL BUNKERING FACILITY

Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced it has signed an agreement with UAE-headquartered Alba Nova International and Greece-based Trafalgar Oil to establish an integrated fuel bunkering station at King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu. Mawani said it would invest $533m towards the project, in which the Saudi Ministry of Energy is also a partner. The bunkering hub will be spread across a site measuring 393,000 square metres, and will consist of oil storage tanks, trading units and blending units for petroleum products. The project will be built in two phases, with each phase occupying 196,000 square metres of the total plot, and having a capacity of 1.2 million metric-tonnes each. The overall storage capacity of the project will be 2.5 million metric tonnes. Each phase of the facility will have 144 storage tanks that would hold oil products such as diesel, benzene, and heavy fuel oil tanks. Each tank would have a capacity of 8,650 metric tonnes, and would serve both local and foreign customers. (ICE RIYADH)
