ARAMCO SEEKS TO CREATE BROWNFIELD CONTRACTORS POOL

Saudi Aramco has initiated the solicitation of interest (SoI) process for a new Long-Term Agreement (LTA) pool of contractors it intends to establish to which it would regularly issue tenders for brownfield oil and gas projects in future. Based on their value, Aramco would categorise such projects as ‘large’ or ‘small’. The Contract Release and Purchase Orders (CRPOs), or work tenders, to be issued to contractors in this proposed LTA pool will cover engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for specified onshore brownfield projects. Contractors have been invited to express interest to participate in the selection process for the planned onshore LTA pool by 9 July. Interested contractors are mainly required to submit their track record on Aramco onshore projects and work and time unit rates for future jobs. Aramco has divided the oil and gas fields and other upstream and downstream assets, in which brownfield works are to be executed, in six zones across Saudi Arabia: • Zone 1: North of Dhahran – Wasit, Khursaniyah, Abu Ali, Ras al-Khair, Safaniya, Tanajib, Jubail, Berri, Ras Tanura, Juaymah and Qatif • Zone 2: Southern area – Abqaiq, Ain Dar, Shedgum, Uthmaniyah, Udhiliyah, Hawiyah, Haradh, Harmaliyah, Khurais and Ghawar. Shaybah will also be under Zone 2 but it will have its own factor. • Zone 3: Central region – Riyadh, Qassim, Sulayyil and Hawtah. • Zone 4: Western region – Jeddah, Rabigh, Madina, Yanbu and Taif • Zone 5: Northwestern region – Al-Jowf, Turaif, Duba and Tabuk • Zone 6: Southwestern region – Jazan, Abha and Najran. As part of their SoI submissions, contractors would be required to select a base zone from the above list in which they would like to bid for tenders, and issue work and time unit rates accordingly.
