Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen. During the meeting, the parties exchanged the originals of the Memorandum on the expansion of the energy partnership in the field of wind energy, which was signed online by the Energy Ministers of both countries at the end of April 2023.German Galushchenko thanked Denmark for its support to Ukraine’s energy sector, including humanitarian aid and the Kingdom’s contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established jointly with the Energy Community Secretariat.German Galushchenko stressed that Ukraine’s energy strategy up to 2050 provided for the rapid development of wind energy, which should ensure decentralised and sustainable power generation in the future. And cooperation with Denmark in this area plays an important role in achieving these goals.During the meeting, the parties discussed areas for further cooperation in implementing the provisions of the Memorandum. The first phase of cooperation will include an accelerated study of Ukraine’s offshore wind energy potential by the World Bank and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Wind) by September 2023.“Denmark is one of the world leaders in wind energy. And, according to the Memorandum, Ukraine will use the Danish experience in rebuilding our energy system. We are talking about both offshore and onshore solutions, in particular, to achieve the goals of decentralisation of generation,” the Minister said.The parties also reaffirmed their intention to work together to accelerate the energy transition in line with the goals and priorities of energy development in both countries.
