EMERGING market economies in Asia, the Philippines among them, are poised for strong growth as inflation pressures have started easing, S&P Global Ratings said on Thursday. "There are two key things that are driving growth [in Asian emerging economies]," said Christopher Lee, S&P managing director and chief analytics officer for Asia-Pacific, during the debt watcher's 2023 Global Emerging Markets Conference. "One is demographic. In general, we are talking about a very young population and expanding labor force in most parts of Southeast Asia." Foreign direct investments also continue to flow into the region, resulting in more robust growth.
