TYLER PERRY PAUSES THE EXPANSION OF HIS $800 MILLION STUDIO
Tyler Perry has decided to halt an $800 million expansion of his Atlanta studio complex following the debut of OpenAI’s video generator, Sora, and has issued a warning regarding the potential job losses in the film industry due to artificial intelligence. The renowned US film and TV mogul had been in the process of adding 12 sound stages to his studio but has now suspended those plans indefinitely after witnessing the remarkable capabilities of Sora.In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Perry expressed his shock at the demonstrations of Sora and its capabilities, stating, “All of that is currently and indefinitely on hold because of Sora and what I’m seeing. I had gotten word over the last year or so that this was coming, but I had no idea until I saw recently the demonstrations of what it’s able to do. It’s shocking to me.”Sora, launched on February 15th with limited access to select researchers and video creators, garnered widespread amazement for its ability to generate realistic footage from simple text prompts.Perry, known for his successful Madea film series, emphasized that Sora’s achievements mean he no longer needs to travel to locations or construct sets, remarking, “I can sit in an office and do this with a computer, which is shocking to me.”Demos released by OpenAI, the developer behind the revolutionary ChatGPT chatbot, showcased photorealistic scenes created in response to prompts, illustrating the potential of AI in content creation.source: The Guardian (ICE LOS ANGELES)
