WATER INFLOW TO DAM RESERVES DECLINES 10%

Water inflow to Iran’s dams has decreased by 10 percent since the beginning of the current water year (September 23, 2023) up to April 13, 2024, compared to the same period last year, the new report released by the Water Resources Management Company shows.According to the said report, during the mentioned period, 22.89 billion cubic meters of water entered the country’s dam reserves, while the figure stood at 25.57 billion last year, Tasnim News Agency reported.Despite the recent perspirations across the country, the total volume of water in dam reservoirs has not changed significantly compared to the previous year.Recent rains have led to the melting of snow cover, increasing the level of water behind dams. However, the water level of dams is still not high in comparison to last year.The amount of water outflow from the dams in the aforesaid period reached 14.55 billion cubic meters. Last year and in the same period, the amount of water outflow was 14.61 billion cubic meters.The report indicates that the volume of water in the country’s dams from the beginning of the current water year up to April 13, has reached 30.08 billion cubic meters.The total capacity of the country’s dams stands at 50.5 billion cubic meters, showing that 60 percent of the dams’ capacity is full.
