INDONESIA CONTINUES ITS STRONG PRESENCE AT HANNOVER MESSE 2024

Indonesia is continuing its role as an official partner country at Hannover Messe 2024, a major international industrial trade fair held Hannover, Germany, from April 22 to 26, 2024. This participation aligns with the government's "Making Indonesia 4.0" initiative, a programme designed to propel the country's manufacturing sector and increase its position as a global player. Industry Minister Agus Kartasasmita said in his speech at the Indonesia Pavilion on April 22 that through the programme, Indonesia is targeting increased competitiveness in a number of key economic sectors, including electric vehicles, biofuels and renewable resources. Through Making Indonesia 4.0, the government targets achieving 23 percent of renewable energy in the national energy mix by 2025. By 2040, it projects attracting total investments of US$ 545.3 billion for 21 commodities in the downstream industry and a decade later, the retirement of all coal-fired power plants in the country. The Industry Minister also witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) at the opening of the Indonesia Pavilion at Hannover Messe 2024. One of them was the investment of more than IDR 5 trillion (EUR 292 million) in the waste recycling sector for industrial areas in Riau Islands. (ICE GIACARTA)
