SAUDI ARABIA SEEKS K9 PPP PROJECT INTEREST

Saudi Arabia's Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (Zatca), through the National Centre for Privatisation and PPP (NCP), issued an expression of interest notice for the development of canine training facilities in Jeddah and Dammam Called the K9 Training Centre and Point of Entry (PoE) project, the scheme will be developed through a public private partnership (PPP) model. The project will be tendered on a design, build, finance, operate, maintain, transfer (DBFOMT) basis, with a contract duration of 21.5 years, including the construction period. The notice was issued on 23 April and the deadline for expressing interest is 6 May. The scheme involves the development and operation of the National K9 Training Centre in Saudi Arabia including new facilities at King Abdullah Port in King Abdullah Economic City and King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. The scheme also includes the expansion of existing K9 facilities at Jeddah Islamic Port and facilities maintenance services for all three sites.  The contract also covers the K9 training and other services such as food, equipment, veterinarian care and accommodation. The services will be provided at 34 PoEs across the kingdom, of which 26 are currently operational. Eight new ones are expected to be completed by 2030.   (ICE RIYADH)
