THE Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will start negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) next week, and Manila is hoping to seal a deal before the year ends, a senior official said. Allan Gepty, undersecretary for international trade at the Department of Trade and Industry, told reporters on Tuesday that the first round of talks for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) would be held in Dubai from May 6 to 8.
