Codevintec Italiana

Codevintec, founded in 1973, is an Italian company focusing on advanced cutting-edge technology for geophysical and marine surveys.
The wide range of instruments represented, allows Codevintec to be an efficient consultant for big companies, geologists and universities. Systems for:
- Coastal and marine surveys: Multibeam, SSS, SBP, magnetometers, hydrographic drones…
- Geophysical surveys: GPR, seismic, magnetometers, resistivity meters …
- Environmental monitoring: CTD and oceanographic sensors, ElectroMagnetometers…
- Civil engineering: GPR and 3D GPR, tiltmeters…
- Seismic monitoring: seismometers, strong motion, Early Warning networks.

Codevintec provides service and technical assistance, rental, and training with highly specialized engineers.
Currently, Codevintec is developing and creating its own instruments. It takes part In Ocean Business with its brand new marine drone ASV CK-14.
Codevintec is based in 3 key areas: Milan, Rome, Athens – Greece (Codevintec Hellas).
This allows us to be present internationally catering to all our clients’ needs.

CK-14 is an USV – Autonomous Surface Vehicle – designed, produced and made in Italy by Codevintec. It is made from carbon fiber and Kevlar, to achieve the maximum lightness and strength for any application. It is extremely small: 140 cm. in length and 90 cm. in width, but - thanks to its nautical principle design it has a very good buoyancy. The draft is only 20 cm - depending on the payload being used - and this allows the CK-14 to be used in shallow waters. It’s enable an extremely easy handling and logistics. The vessel is transportable in ordinary car and is operated by a single person. CK-14 – thanks a special construction typology – weights only 15 kg. and supports a payload up 40 kg. Therefore, the batteries give up to 12 hours of autonomy, depending on the installation. CK-14 has an opening from the top, closed by a watertight cover, designed for an easy access instruments’ installation and maintenance. The vehicle can be equipped with different scientific instruments.

CK-14 is an ASV marine drone designed, produced and manufactured entirely by Codevintec. It is CE marked, carbon fiber and Kevlar hull. This particular hull feature allows the maximum lightness (15kg.).
CK-14 is a portable system developed for different hydrographic applications in ports, rivers, lakes and coastal waters. The specific hull feature is based upon strict nautical standards which offers an extraordinary stability and buoyancy. Despite its reduced size (only 140 cm length) with a 40 Kg payload, the space and stability of hull allows any kind of load (single beam echosounder, top-end multibeams, ADCPs and even a combinations of these type of sensors). The draft is only 20cm, according to the payload and this allows us to use the CK-14 in shallow water.
CK-14 has an opening from the top, closed by a watertight cover, designed for any access instruments’ installation, batteries and maintenance. There are 4 handles (two on one side and two on the other) for transporting. Also there is an eyebolt and a carrier rollbar. This rollbar can host antennas, cameras or other accessories. These features make the CK-14 easily transportable in ordinary car and is operated by a single person.
Internally the wide Moon-Pool (33x27 cm) can host a wide variety of instruments and most of the multibeams with MillCross transducers, even the larger ones, without negatively impacting on the resistance or on the stiffness. The availability of customised supports allows to integrate third parties’ sensors such as SBES, MBES, ADCP, SSS, Lidar, multiparameters probes, winches, etc.
CK-14 uses high-end professional batteries, however easily available on the market: 16.000mA Lithium polymer with low self-discharge. The autonomy offered is about 12 hours, which varies depending on the payload and use. Two brushless propellers, low maintenance, can work independently and counteracting each other, so to give the best manoeuvrability to the CK-14.
The blades are protected directly by the hull to avoid any possible damage during use and during transport and handling. The control of the CK-14 can take place with a normal professional 6-channel remote control, 2.4GHz band with 30 programmable presets and integrated display or via PC, Tablet or Smartphone when equipped with the Sestante module.
Sestante is the autopilot module entirely designed by Codevintec that allows to transform the CK-14 from an USV (Unmanned Surface Vessel) to an ASV (Autonomous Surface vessel). Sestante allows full control and management of the onboard PC and the navigation in different mode: totally autonomous or manual with remotely driven, long range Wi-Fi, unlimited 4G, all selectable in real-time. Sestante is made of an onboard unit, a compact Ground Control Unit with 16 hours battery life, a 7” touchscreen console with 10 hours battery life and a software to plan the survey.
