TENUTA DEL BUONAMICO SOCIETA' AGRICOLA SRL

Tenuta del Buonamico is an historical winery born in 1964 in the small mediaeval
village of Montecarlo, one of the smallest DOC on Italy, in the province of Lucca,
northwest of Tuscany, in Italy.
The estate, owned by the Fontana’s Family from Lucca, has been specialized in the
production of quality wines and sparkling for more than fifty years now. It covers an
area of about 100 ha of which almost 50 ha in vineyards, about 6 ha in olive groves
and the remainder occupied by wooded areas typical of the Tuscan countryside.
The production of wine in Montecarlo has historical origins dating back to around
840 BC from documents found in the municipal archives.
The particular of the Doc of Montecarlo is that the French Grapes, which are part of
the disciplinary of Montecarlo, have benne present since the late 1800s when a
Montecarlese winemaker went to France to study the tendrils and the winemaking
techniques of our cousins from across the Alps, and he brought back the main French
grapes to Montecarlo to understand how they would adapt to our territory to make
Sangiovese and Trebbiano, the two typical Tuscan grapes, more elegant.
So since then, they have found their natural habitat in our lands to develop and grow
and therefore have officially entered the Doc of Montecarlo for as long as they are
considered autochthonous vines.
Buonamico produces white, rosè, red wines respecting the production area to obtain
high-end wines. For about 10 years, Buonamico has specialized in the production of
Tuscan sparkling wines with the Charmat method and today it represents the largest
Tuscan producer in terms of volume, reaching almost 200.000 bottles produced per
year, divided between 5 types of different sparkling wines.
To complete the range, Buonamico produces an excellent extra virgin olive oil in
various format and types.
Buonamico as whole produces more than 400.000 bottles of wines and sparkling
following directly all of stages of production from the cellar, passing through the
harvest up to the bottling itself. This production autonomy using the most current
winemaking techniques with the best equipment allows Buonamico to follow the
development of the processing phases at the best, according to the right and correct
time periods with the aim of obtaining high quality products and production
standards. Our Oenologist is Alberto Antonini from the harvest 2008
Buonamico is an excellence of the Montecarlo area, it represents in itself the
reference winery both in terms of size production, as well as the distribution and
renown of its products on the national and international market.

Unique sparkling wine, excellent for its elegance, with a fragrant, fruity and fresh flavor. The initial dog-rose notes are followed by morello cherry, strawberry and raspberry notes.
There is a complex freshness in the taste that is in contrast with a deep acidity that gives the wine a high drinkability, with a balanced sugar content.
It is a very elegant product, also due to its fine and persistent perlage.

Sparkling wine created according to the charmat method. It has characteristics that make it “particular” as its own name.
The scent opens up with flower hints, then there are white fruit notes and toasted breat at the end.
It is complex to the taste, and it has a remarkable acidity that contrasts with a balanced sugar content.
The fine and persistent perlage makes easy drinking and elegant at the same time.

Wine with a very clear scent, with very intense dark fruit notes and flowers, cocoa, vanilla and spices which define its complexity.
It is a wine that keeps the specific charateristics of Montecarlo DOC, but the structure is remarkable because of the ageing of the Sangiovese in barriques for 7 months.
It has a velvety, wide and dense taste at the beginning, with clear but rounded tannins and it is well balanced and persistent.

This wine’s intense, fresh and floral smell has a nice white fruit note and orange flowers hints, which comes before a very fresh, fruity and crispy taste, intense to the palate but pleasantly balanced.
Within the respect of the rules of Montecarlo, it is an innovative wine for the area, being it’s aromatic, because of the high concentration of Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon and Malvasia.

Intense ruby red color. Intense scent with deep dark fruit and flowers hints, cocoa and spices to define the complexity, which belongs to the terroir where it comes from.
Highly structured taste but elegant and deep, with intense tannins which are rounded and balanced at the same time.
