Tecnomed Italia was founded as a technical service in 1999, to develop later into an importer and become what it is today: a a company focusing mainly on manufacturing. This is the business core, a journey that began in 2013 and has enabled it to be recognised in the market as a “quality maker” and as a “designer of exclusive, patented solutions for the doctors of the future”.
These include the Handy Surgery range, a line of surgical room equipment made entirely of stainless steel, the SKUDO aerosol equipment, and FALKO, the first augmented and enhanced reality multimedia system within everyone’s reach.
Thanks to this new invention, Tecnomed has received three prestigious nominations.
FALKO was shortlisted at the “Dental Industry Awards 2022” as “High-Tech Launch of the Year” and “Product or Innovation of the Year”. The first Italian company to achieve this goal. In addition, FALKO won the “2022 GOOD DESIGN® Awards in Chicago”, the world’s most prestigious, recognised and oldest design awards programme, and was selected as a finalist in the Med-Tech Innovation Awards 2023.

FALKO - Head Mounted Display for medical imaging equipment
FALKO is the innovative Head-Mounted Display (HMD) designed and developed by Tecnomed Italia specifically for the medical field. The visor, which is registered as a medical device and complies with EU Regulation 2017/745 and the relevant harmonised standards, is designed for use in hospital operating theatres, surgery centres and clinics.
FALKO allows visualising video information from any medical imaging equipment, including magnifying cameras, micro-operators, dynamic navigation hardware for surgery, multi-parameter monitors, ultrasound scanners and more, in real time.
By wearing it, the medical professional has the possibility to work with an enlarged view of the area, constantly maintaining a correct posture, looking towards the patient, and with perfect hand-eye coordination.
A distinctive aspect of FALKO is the dedicated software, which enables telecooperation in healthcare. This allows medical professionals from all over the world to actively participate in a surgery remotely, as if they were physically present in the operating theatre.
When the point of view of the practitioner wearing FALKO is shared with authorised remote users, they are able to make real-time notes to the surgical video. These notes can be made in different forms, such as freehand signs, written text or predefined shapes, and are visualised in real time by the practitioner as augmented reality elements, superimposed on the area visible through the viewer.
