The Italian Trade Commission (ITA) Canada and its Machines Italia project, joined forces with UNACEA, the Italian construction equipment association and ANIMA, the umbrella association that represents the Italian mechanical engineering industry, to promote Italian earthmoving, construction technology at PDAC 2023, the annual conference organized by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, which took place in Toronto, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, from March 5 to 8, 2023.
Attendees at PDAC 2023 had a chance to stop at the ITC - UNACEA and ANIMA stand (7123N - North Building) and meet with the representatives of the following Italian companies:
SICOMA, part of OMG, was established in 1947, in Perugia, Italy and on the historic 500 companies list in Italy, specializing in the design and manufacturing of high performance heavy duty mixers. Vittorio (Vic) Cucurnia, Vice-President of Operations based at S.I.C.O.MA’s North American office in Florida, shares major trends and outlooks, sharing that “the future of concrete in Europe is ‘bio-concrete,’ one of the newest innovations in building because of its ability to repair itself; while ‘bio-concrete’ is relatively new, we will see more usage as more manufacturers utilize this - now is the moment.” Another trend that has taken the industry by storm, he cites, is the prevailing usage of wet-cast concrete over traditional dry-cast concrete. Finally, there is a movement towards sustainable and environmentally friendly power sources, replacing traditional diesel.”
