Klarna launches a Tech Hub in Milan (2020)

overview

Investor company description

Klarna is a Swedish bank that provides online financial services such as payments for online storefronts, direct payments, post-purchase payments and more. Their core service is to assume stores' claims for payments and handle customer payments, thus eliminating the financial risks for both the seller and buyer.

Investment description

Following the acquisition of the Italian company Moneymour, Klarna launched a Tech Hub in Milan where developers and product managers support the development of products and services worldwide. Along with the commercial expansion, the hub also deals with R&D activities.

The Milan headquarter was at first located in a co-working space, and then moved to a larger independent office. The “Invest in Italy” team supported the company throughout the process of establishing its presence in Italy, identifying possible investment incentives and partners.
