Russia’s Rosatom becomes owner of Kazakhstan’s Stepnogorsk mining and chemical plant after getting stake in Budenovsk uranium depositUranium One Group JSC, a subsidiary of [Russia’s nuclear giant] Rosatom, became part of the Stepnogorsk mining and chemical plant LLP, the national atomic company Kazatomprom said in a statement."Within the framework of audited financial statements of JV Budenovsk LLP for 2022, information was received from JV Budenovskoye LLP on a change in the make-up of the participants in Stepnogorsk Stepnogorsk mining and chemical plant, which includes Uranium One Group JSC and NFC Logistics Center JSC, the 2022 statements report.NFC Logistics Center JSC is also a company controlled by Rosatom  alongside  Uranium One Group. Thus, Rosatom became the owner of the Stepnogorsk mining and chemical plant through its subsidiaries.Information on what stakes Uranium One Group plant and NFC Logistics Center own is not provided.The Stepnogorsk mining and chemical plant and Kazatomprom own the Budenovsk JV (49%- and 51%- stakes, respectively), which owns Blocks 6 and 7 of the large uranium deposit of the same name in  Turkestan region.It was reported earlier that the Kazakh government passed a decree on the withdrawal of stakes from three uranium enterprises in favor of Uranium One Group, which is part of Rosatom's Uranium One.Uranium One Group JSC is a management company run by the company Uranium One, which is controlled by the Russian state corporation Rosatom. Uranium One’s website reports that in Kazakhstan the company holds a 70% stake in JV Southern Mining and Chemical Company LLP, which operates the Akdala and South Inkai projects; 50% of JV Karatau; 30% of JV Khorasan-U LLP, which operates the Kharasan uranium mine; and 50% of JV Akbastau and 49.98% of JV Zarechnoye, which operate the Akbastau and South Zarechnoye mines, respectively.Kazakhstan's national atomic company Kazatomprom is the co-owner.
