CUBA NABS THE FIRST MILLION VISITORS THIS YEAR

Cuba announced within the framework of FITCuba 2023 that the island has just reached the first million foreign visitors so far this year. The announcement was made by Cuba's Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, on his Twitter account, at a time when the International Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2023, is taking place in the Cuban capital."Cuba receives one million visitors today, a figure that represents an important step for the recovery of Cuban #tourism. Canada continues to be the leading market in issuing international travelers," Minister García Granda wrote on his Twitter account. At a press conference after the official inauguration of FITCuba 2023, the Cuban Minister of Tourism acknowledged that the recovery of tourism activity "has been difficult", but expressed confidence in the sector's growing contribution to the island's battered economy. Cuba barely received the arrival of 1.7 million tourists in 2022, compared to the initial forecast of 2.5 million and the 360,000 that arrived in 2021. By 2023, MINTUR expects around 3.5 million travelers. (ICE L'AVANA)
