PURSUING SUSTAINABLE GROWTH, MARKET PLACE PRESS MONEY BURNING ACTION

The e-commerce sector is estimated to still grow, although it will not be as high as during the Covid-19 pandemic. Marketplace providers are trying to suppress "burning money" and improve service quality to maintain customer loyalty. Online shopping in Southeast Asia is estimated to increase by 20% this year to $200 billion, a slowdown of 38% from the previous year. The 2022 SEA e-Economy Report estimates the internet economy in Southeast Asia will reach US$330 billion by 2025.E-commerce companies, such as Lazada Indonesia, must be able to grow sustainably in order to continue to offer promos and discounts. Lazada Indonesia has not applied transaction fees to buyers, but has strengthened platform review and oversight to ensure the e-commerce ecosystem is safe and trusted. Additionally, Shopee Indonesia has facilitated 400 sales partners from Indonesia to serve export requests. Despite social and economic challenges, buyers and business people have managed to get more value and new opportunities online. Shopee Indonesia has opened opportunities for sellers to export their products and reach world markets.Researcher Izzudin Al Farras Adha believes the e-commerce sector still has opportunities to grow by expanding its market share outside of big cities.
