The Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported that in April 2023 industrial production fell by 6.4 percent y/y and by 14.8 percent m/m, compared to the market consensus of 3.5 percent y/y and 12.4 percent respectively. The data released by the statistical office also show that last month seasonally-adjusted industrial production shrank by 3.4 percent y/y and by 1.6 percent m/m. Output decreased in 25 sectors of the economy out of 34, including products of wood, cork, straw and wicker (by 23 percent), chemicals and chemical products (19.8 percent), metals (16.6 percent), other non-metallic mineral products (15.7 percent) or furniture (15.6 percent).
