Oil production goes down at Kashagan after hydrogen sulfide found in two wells - NCOCOil production at the Kashagan field has been lowered after the presence of hydrogen sulfide was detected in two wells, the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) told Interfax-Kazakhstan."NCOC confirms that the presence of gas (H2S) was detected during the fluid sampling from "A" annular space in two injection wells at the Kashagan field. Previously, however, the wells were operating within normal operating parameters," the company said in response to Interfax inquiry."On May 20, NCOC completed the shut-in of these two wells to check the integrity of the wells and continued further research. Therefore, gas injection and oil production have been lowered for the period of testing," the company says.NCOC noted that the consortium aims "to prevent any negative impact on the environment and  safety."The Telegram channel ENERGY MONITOR, owned by the Union of Oil Service Companies in Kazakhstan, said earlier said that the Kashagan project reduced the daily production from 450,000 to 360,000 barrels of oil due to a high level of hydrogen sulfide on the production site.Kashagan is Kazakhstan’s first offshore oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea. It is the largest international investment project in the country. Commercial operation at Kashagan began on November 1, 2016.NCOC, the operator of the Kashagan project, is owned by KMG Kashagan B.V. (16.877%), Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. (16.807%), Total EP Kazakhstan (16.807%), Agip Caspian Sea B.V. (16.807%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc. (16.807%), CNPC Kazakhstan B.V.
