GECOL SUPPLIES NEW EQUIPMENT AND SPARE PARTS FOR ITS STATIONS AND CONFIRMS ability to end power cuts

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) says it is continuing to implement its plans to modernize power stations in all cities by providing equipment and spare parts to raise production efficiency and performance and improve its production capabilities.Speaking exclusively to Libya Herald, GECOL spokesperson, Wiam al-Taeb, said shipments of electrical equipment and spare parts arrived Sunday at the company’s warehouses through Tripoli seaport.Within the long-term maintenance contractThese were supplied by the American company, GE, for North Benghazi and Zawiya stations, complementing the massive overhaul of the second gas unit in the North Benghazi station, and the fifth gas unit in Zawiya station. These will undergo major overhaul works according to the schedule specified and within the long-term maintenance contract for the generation units at the regional level.Adding that three shipments supplied by Turkey’s Calik Company, including boiler burners for gas heating, arrived for the Zueitina power station.Implementation of strategic maintenance planAl-Taeb indicated the continuation of the implementation of the strategic plan for the maintenance of power stations spread across several cities. In addition to this, there is the completion of work on the new stations in Ubari, Sirte, Tobruk, West and South Tripoli, with the completion of new energy transmission lines from them to voltage transfer stations in cities. No serious power cuts this summer peak?He said the capacity of Libyan power plants will reach approximately 11,000 megawatts of total generation capacity this summer. This should cover the peak summer electricity demand if the maintenance plan is fully implemented and overflowed. This should, he said, end the programmed load sharing process that prevailed during the past years. (ICE TRIPOLI)
