The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) has reported that the capital situation of the banking sector remained stable in Q1, 2023. According to the KNF, in that period exposure to operating risk increased while exposure to credit risk decreased, moreover, the sector’s own funds shrank by PLN1.2bn. The KNF’s data also show that as of the end of April 2023 the net financial result generated by the banking sector amounted to PLN13bn, PLN3.9bn more compared to the year-earlier period. Meanwhile, in April the portfolio of gross housing loans to households decreased by PLN1bn to PLN458.9bn while the portfolio of gross PLN housing loans to households increased by PLN0.8bn to PLN389.3bn.
