TRADE SURPLUS TREND CONTINUES

Indonesia's trade balance in April 2023 recorded a surplus of USD 3.94 billion, consisting of a non-oil and gas surplus of USD 5.64 billion and an oil and gas deficit of USD 1.70 billion. This surplus continues the trend of the last three years, since May 2020. This implies that from January to April, Indonesia's trade surplus reached USD 16.5 billion. In the month of April, the main trade partners that contributed to the surplus were India (USD 0.98 billion), the United States (USD 0.69 billion), and the Philippines (USD 0.66 billion).  However, it should be noted that the continuing trade surplus was achieved by a decrease both in exports and imports. Fortunately, the decrease in imports was much deeper (-25.45%) compared to that of exports (-17.62%), so Indonesia's trade balance recorded a surplus in April. Considering the export performance, the decrease was substantial, and the fasting month and Eid holiday have been perceived as important factors contributing to the decrease.Link di fonte: https://www.kemendag.go.id/berita/siaran-pers/kinerja-dagang-april-2023-mendag-zulkifli-hasan-neraca-perdagangan-catatkan-usd-394-miliar-tren-surplus-terus-berlanjut (ICE GIACARTA)
