On Monday, the foundation act was signed and the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new cargo terminal of the Kraków Airport under the contract signed with Mostostal Warszawa in November 2022. The new terminal, built at the cost of ca. PLN92m, is scheduled to be put into use in the autumn of 2024 and it will increase the airport’s cargo handling capacity to 8,000 tonnes per year. This is not much compared to the leading cargo handling airports in Poland, however, the Kraków airport has the broadest network of connections of any regional airport and regular carriers, in an effort to boost the profitability of their flights, often additionally transport cargo in the baggage compartments of passenger aircraft.
