POLES CUT THEIR GROCERY BILLS

A survey conducted by the economic information bureau InfoMonitor shows that as many as 91 percent of Polish people try to save money on grocery shopping, with more than half of the respondents declaring that they have cut down on buying alcohol, ready meals and sweets. Meanwhile, between 4 percent and 14 percent of the respondents declare that they have cut down on purchases of such staple products as meat, fruit and vegetables as well as bakery and dairy products. Commenting on the survey, InfoMonitor’s chief analyst Waldemar Rogowski points out that as many as 26 percent of the respondents have said that they have improved their eating habits as a result while 17 percent of the respondents have said that their diets have worsened due to having to economise on grocery shopping.
