NEW FERRY SERVICE CONNECTING GEORGIA AND ROMANIA SET TO BEGIN ON JUNE 27TH

Starting June 27, a new ferry service connecting Romania and Georgia is set to commence operations, establishing a swift and straightforward link between the two countries. The ferry will run between the ports of Constanta in Romania and Poti in Georgia, marking an essential milestone in the connection between Georgia and Europe. The 190-meter ferry, named "Vilnius," is a cargo-passenger type vessel commissioned by Georgian company E60 Shipping Line. It is designed to accommodate trucks, containers, cars, and passengers. The ship will serve the Black Sea segment of one of Europe's longest road routes, the E60, which has never been fully serviced before. The introduction of this ferry service on the said route will significantly streamline road transport between Georgia and Europe, offering an invaluable asset for both regions. The journey from port to port is expected to take just 42 hours. During this time, passengers and drivers will have the opportunity to enjoy comfortable cabins, an on-board restaurant, a bar, an entertainment area, and a Duty-Free shop. This initiative was agreed upon earlier this year during a visit of Romanian customs representatives to Georgia. The Poti - Constanta ferry line represents the shortest connection between the Caucasus and Central Asian countries with Europe, underscoring its strategic importance for the region. As such, its successful operation is critical to the continued existence and development of the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor.https://cbw.ge/economy/new-ferry-service-connecting-georgia-and-romania-set-to-begin-on-june-27th (ICE BAKU)
