THE MUSIC INDUSTRY CONTRIBUTES IDR 6 TRILLION TO GDP

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno revealed that the music subsector managed to contribute nearly IDR 6 trillion to the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020. This figure continues to grow more and more positively until 2022, so that the Government projects that the GDP of the music subsector can exceeded IDR 7 trillion this year. "We want music to be the most important and foremost part of the creative economy sub-sector. The music sub-sector in 2020 contributed nearly IDR 6 trillion. If you look at it, its growth will be very positive in 2022," said Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno in Cilandak, Jakarta, Monday. Menparekraf explained that in addition to the projected GDP of IDR 7 trillion, the government is also targeting the music sub-sector to absorb as many as 70 thousand workers this year. "Hopefully it can absorb up to 70 thousand workers. When it comes to manpower, music is the most productive sub-sector," he explained.
