German Rhenus SE to provide support for designing container hub in Aktau seaport  - Kazakh railway operatorJSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has provided some details of the memorandum of understanding with German company Rhenus SE signed on Tuesday as part of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's visit to Kazakhstan.The sides  intend to work together to increase cargo traffic via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the KTZ press office said in a statement.The document envisages cooperation for developing logistics centers, increasing  storage/accommodation capacities of the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk. The German side will provide technical and advisory support for designing  a container hub based in Aktau, the statement says.Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is a transport, warehousing and distribution company, which is part of Kazakhstan’s National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna. KTZ operates the country’s railways, the infrastructure of seaports and airports, transportation and warehousing facilities.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, is an international transport corridor that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and further to Turkey and European countries. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is part of the corridor. (ICE ALMATY)
