BKPM: SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT GUIDELINES IN LINE WITH GLOBAL ECONOMIC TRENDS

The Indonesian Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has released the Sustainable Investment Guidelines, aligning with global economic trends towards sustainability. The guide aims to increase the realized value of direct investment in Indonesia, addressing the demands of the business world and consumers towards sustainable economic practices. The guide is a government effort to encourage more investments that have both economic value and positive impact. The increasing number of natural disasters due to climate crisis and environmental degradation has led to a growing interest in socially and environmentally friendly investments. The government has also emphasized the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through Indonesia's Enhanced NDC (ENDC) document. A 2019 World Resource Institute report estimated that a global investment of USD 1.8 trillion in nature-based innovation from 2020 to 2030 could generate a net benefit of USD 7.1 trillion. Indonesia's 5 Big Agendas, including downstreaming and industrializing natural resources, optimizing clean energy sources, a green economy, and upgrading MSMEs, also prioritize sustainable investment development.Priority sectors for investment include plantation, maritime, fishery, and forestry, with an investment requirement of US$45.4 billion until 2040. The government is working to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060 or sooner. Private investment is needed to accelerate sustainable development through environmentally friendly investments, educating local workers, transferring technology, and providing added value in managing natural resources by downstreaming products.Link di fonte: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/3602631/bkpm-panduan-investasi-lestari-sejalan-dengan-tren-ekonomi-global (ICE GIACARTA)
