SRI MULYANI DISASSEMBLES INDONESIA'S CONSTRAINTS 'DEATH INJECTION' PLTU

Indonesia's Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, discussed the 'dead injection' or early retirement of coal-fired power plants (PLTU) in the country. The discussion focused on the most effective models and approaches to drive private investment in the climate sector, particularly in developing countries. The Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) Country Platform, launched at the G20, can support the private sector in the climate sector. However, challenges include the taxonomy of taxation, high borrowing costs, and infrastructure investment. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is still waiting for energy transition funding collected by the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) worth $20 billion for the early retirement of PLTU.The JETP program was initiated by developed countries, including the United States. The government is currently conducting discussions related to the JETP program, particularly regarding funding commitments. Indonesia wants support that is more real, not business as usual, such as commercial loans. The US President Joe Biden has committed up to $20 billion to accelerate the implementation of the energy transition in Indonesia, particularly to abandon coal as an energy source.Link di fonte: https://www.cnbcindonesia.com/news/20230623093408-4-448581/terbaru-sri-mulyani-bongkar-kendala-ri-suntik-mati-pltu (ICE GIACARTA)
