Varitex has started the construction of a 2 MW biogas plant in Piaski Bankowe in Łódzkie Province following analyses conducted in collaboration with Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. Commenting on the project, Varitex’s CEO Michał Ulacha has emphasised that the plant is in line with the assumptions of a circular economy. “The processed waste will generate energy and heat instead of sitting in a landfill and later on it will be returned to the fields as fertiliser in the form of digestate. The plant will reduce municipal waste in the region as well as slash CO2 emissions by 13 tonnes and SO2 emissions by more than 12 tonnes annually,” he added. (ICE VARSAVIA)
