UP 12%, NATIONAL COAL PRODUCTION REACHES 295.88 MILLION TONS UNTIL MAY 2023

National coal production reached 295.88 million tons in May 2023, up 12% from the same period last year. The government aims to reach 694.50 million tons with an export plan of up to 460 million tons. Real-time production reached 340.78 million tonnes in June 2023, 49.07% of the target set. Coal exports reached 108.75 million tons, equivalent to 23.64% of the set target. However, weather factors, such as high rain intensity, continue to challenge national coal production.PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA)'s Corporate Secretary, Apollonius Andwie, is optimistic about maintaining a positive performance this year. PTBA's coal production reached 6.8 million tons in the first quarter of 2023, growing by 7% YoY. PTBA targets 41 million tons for this year, an increase of 11% YoY from the 2022 achievement of 37.1 million tons. To maximize sales, PTBA will optimize domestic and export markets, including export opportunities to countries with growth prospects, such as India and Southeast Asia. The Coal Management Agency Partner (MIP) scheme is expected to positively impact PTBA's financial performance.Adaro Energy's Head of Corporate Communication, Febriati Nadira, has not changed its production target for the year, with production at 15.69 million tonnes as of the first quarter of 2023.
