THE MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY NOTED THAT THE VALUE OF APPAREL EXPORTS ROSE 45.92 percent in May

The Ministry of Industry reported a 45.92 percent increase in apparel exports in May 2023, reaching US$700.7 million compared to US$480.2 million in April 2023. The volume of these exports increased from 21.9 million tons to 32.5 million tonnes. The textile industry's good performance, especially clothing, is supported by domestic market demand and preparations for the new school year. Retailers are also depleting remaining stock from Eid al-Fitr production. The P3DN policy, which aims to fulfill public school and ASN clothes, is ongoing, and manufacturers are increasing production activities to anticipate supply. However, the textile industry is still experiencing contraction due to high imports, suppressing the absorption of domestic product sales. Adie hopes that the performance will improve as the new school year enters.Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, the Ministry of Industry Spokesperson, said several industries in the textile sub-sector were still in difficult conditions, with a high volume of imported used clothes entering through the Bonded Logistics Center (PLB). He has asked ministries and agencies to oversee the entry and exit of goods at the PLB and to tighten supervision of imported goods entering Indonesia.Link di fonte: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/3609483/kemenperin-catat-nilai-ekspor-pakaian-jadi-naik-4592-persen-pada-mei (ICE GIACARTA)
