COORDINATING MINISTER AIRLANGGA: INDONESIA WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR nickel export rights

Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, has defended the country's right to downstream, despite the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Trade Organization (WTO) urging the country to abolish the nickel export ban policy. He stated that the IMF's request is a form of imperialist regulation and that Indonesia should not impose its will on other countries in making certain policies. The IMF urged Indonesia to consider a policy of gradually eliminating nickel export restrictions and not extending restrictions to other commodities. The European Union rejected Indonesia's nickel policy, which was sued by the European Union to the WTO in October 2022. The WTO considers that Indonesia's nickel export ban policy violates Article XI.1 of the 1994 GATT and cannot be justified by Article XI.2 (a) XX (d) of the 1994 GATT. Airlangga emphasized that Indonesia will continue to appeal the decision.Link di fonte: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/3609168/menko-airlangga-indonesia-tetap-akan-perjuangkan-hak-ekspor-nikel (ICE GIACARTA)
