KAZAKHSTAN-GERMANY-OIL-SUPPLY

Kazakhstan has exported 290,000 tonnes of oil to Germany to dateKazakhstan has delivered 290,000 tonnes of oil through the pipelines of Russia’s Transneft since the beginning of this year, KazTransOil JSC said in a press release on Friday.“Since the beginning of 2023 as much as 290,000 tonnes of Kazakh oil has been pumped through the pipelines of Transneft PJSC to Adamova Zastava, [a custody transfer metering station in Poland near the Belarussian border], for further delivery to Germany,” the press release says.On June 20 of this year, KazTransOil said that 190,000 tonnes of oil had been delivered to Germany since the beginning of the year. This would mean that as much as 100,000 tonnes of oil from Kazakhstan has been transported to Germany in the ten days after June 20, which demonstrates a significant acceleration in Kazakh oil supply to this European country.Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev told journalists on June 20 that the monthly oil supply to German had been about 20,000 tonnes since the beginning of this year. Kazakhstan plans to export up to 100,000 tonnes of oil to Germany each month starting from this June, according to the minister.KazTransOil obtained earlier permission from Russia’s Transneft to pump 1.2 million tonnes of Kazakh oil through the Druzhba pipeline to Germany in 2023. The first shipment of Kazakh oil was dispatched to Germany in February 2023.President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said earlier that Kazakhstan could further increase oil supply to Germany.KazTransOil Deputy General Director for Transportation Erik Sagiyev said in May that KazTransOil kept receiving requests for Kazakh oil transportation through the Druzhba pipeline to Germany but the final decision about an increase in oil transportation will depend on the Russian partners.Kazakhstan exports its oil through the Druzhba pipeline to the Schwedt refinery, which had been owned by Rosneft until September 2022 when Germany's Federal Network Agency took it under its control. Rosneft Deutschland accounts for about 12% of German refining capacity and is one of the largest fuel market players. The capacity of the Schwedt refinery is 11.6 million tonnes of oil products per year. Starting from the design stage, the plant has historically been linked with the Druzhba oil pipeline and Russian oil fields.KazTransOil JSC, part of the National Company KazMunayGas, is the national operator of oil pipelines in Kazakhstan. The company owns and operates oil pipelines of about 5,400 km in length. (ICE ALMATY)
