POLAND WITH SECOND LOWEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN EU

The Eurostat has reported that Poland’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged month on month at 2.7 percent in May 2023 while the number of unemployed people rose to 472,000 in May from 469,000 in April. According to the statistical office, in May 2023 the euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.5 percent, stable compared with April 2023 and down from 6.7 percent in May 2022. The EU unemployment rate was 5.9 percent in May 2023, down from 6 percent in April 2023 and from 6.1 percent in May 2022. Eurostat also estimates that 12.937 million persons in the EU, of whom 11.014 million in the euro area, were unemployed in May 2023. Compared with April 2023, unemployment decreased by 75,000 in the EU and by 57,000 in the euro area. (ICE VARSAVIA)
