The Polish Economic Institute (PIE) has reported that Poland ranks second in the world in terms of EV battery manufacturing, adding that the value of this sector in Poland increased by a whopping 38 times in 2017-2022. The PIE notes that China is a leader in the processing of raw materials and the production of battery components although it does not have significant deposits of lithium, nickel, cobalt or graphite. The country also manufactures 75 percent of all lithium-ion batteries and ca. 50 percent of all electric vehicles, while Europe accounts for more than 25 percent of global EV manufacturing. “European countries, including Poland, can increase their importance in the electromobility industry at stages from the production of components to the recycling of raw materials and parts from electric vehicles,” the PIE adds.
