The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) have revitalized the concept of the blue economy, aiming to involve stakeholders and the public in its development. The revitalization of the blue economy concept aims to ensure that the three pillars of sustainable development, economic, social, and environmental, are carried out in a balanced manner. The concept has been integrated with various sectors, including empowering people involved, and is consolidated, focusing on the capture fisheries and aquaculture sector, tourism, manufacturing, and trade.Public consultations have shown that collaboration with local NGOs can increase knowledge and income sources from catching sharks. One source of income generated by the people on Alor Island is granola from corn, which is processed by women in the region. This has increased the capacity of mothers and their husbands to continue the conservation of rat sharks.
