AVAILABILITY OF RENEWABLE ENERGY DRIVES INVESTMENT ATTRACTIVENESS

The use of renewable energy is crucial in Indonesia to reduce carbon emissions in the entire supply chain for export products. Executive Director of the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) Fabby Tumiwa emphasized the importance of green electricity supply in increasing investment competitiveness. He also highlighted the need for the application of carbon border taxes, such as those in Europe, to reduce the carbon footprint in the production of exported goods. Central Java, a province with great potential in providing renewable energy, has 198 gigawatts of potential, including solar power plants, wind power plants, micro-hydro, and biomass. The Central Java Provincial Government has several projects available in the renewable energy sector, including the Banjaran and Logawa mini-hydro power plants in Banyumas, the construction of floating solar cell power plant Wadaslintang Reservoir, Geothermal power plant at Umbul Telomoyo Temple, and Baturaden Geothermal power plant in Banyumas.Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen emphasized the economic impact of renewable energy on regions and institutions that install rooftop solar panel, reducing energy costs by 30-40 percent. The province is also a strategic route for industrial development, with the construction of industries like the Kendal Industrial Area and the Batang Integrated Industrial Area. Despite the surplus electricity from PLN in Central Java, he hopes it can be replaced with renewable energy to reduce electricity load. Investment realization in the renewable energy sector is encouraged as part of efforts towards a zero carbon economy. However, commitment to environmentally friendly practices, such as protecting forests and encouraging renewable energy use, must be maintained.Link di fonte: https://www.kompas.id/baca/ekonomi/2023/07/04/ketersediaan-energi-terbarukan-dorong-daya-tarik-investasi (ICE GIACARTA)
