Government to allocate 5 billion tenge on Kaspiy desalination plant expansionThe government will allocate 5 billion tenge to complete the expansion of the Kaspiy desalination plant to provide additional water supply to the Mangistau region, the government press service said.According to the press service, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov got familiar with the Kaspiy desalination plant expansion project during his working trip to Mangistau region.Enterprise director Nurlybai Akkulov reported on the ongoing work on the plant upgrading. According to him, about 5 billion tenge is required to complete the project, in particular, to purchase the missing equipment. "The government will allocate the necessary funds to complete it in the nearest future. The regional administration needs to take all measures to promptly launch new production capacities at the desalination plant," Smailov said.He also noted that the project is of vital importance for 180,000 residents of the Munailinsky, Tupkaragansky and Karakiyansky districts of the Mangistau region.The work on the plant expansion began in 2020 and is currently nearing its final stage. Upon the project completion the production of potable water at the Kaspiy plant is expected to increase up to 40 thousand cubic meters per day, which will ensure a stable water supply to the region.
