BINTANG ACQUIRES RIGHT FOR TIGER BEER PRODUCTION AND SALES

PT Multi Bintang Indonesia (MLBI) has secured a license to produce and sell beer from Singaporean brand Tiger Beer in Indonesia. The deal was signed on Friday between the Indonesian brewer and its Singaporean affiliate, Heineken Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. MLBI director Dayna Nicole Adelman explained that the arrangement would increase MLBI revenue and net profits on a consolidated basis. The introduction of Tiger Beer into the Indonesian product lineup would generate Rp 61.9 billion worth of additional net sales in 2024, resulting in an expected net profit of Rp 12.8 billion. MLBI has earned the rights to use the Tiger Beer trademark until 2028, and Heineken Asia Pacific is entitled to 5% of the product's sales. The royalty rate is set to gradually increase over time, remaining at 0% in 2023 and throughout next year. In 2025, MLBI will have to pay a 1.25 percent royalty to its Singaporean counterpart, and in 2023, it will go up to 2.5 percent. In 2027, the former must pay a 3.75 percent royalty to the latter. The alcoholic beverage industry in Indonesia was hit hard during the pandemic, with sales contracting more than 30% in 2020 and profits plummeting more than 60%. However, business players are expecting a rebound this year due to rising revenue and foreign tourists. Some smaller producers have capitalized on the rebound momentum to go public at a time of growing investor appetite for the industry, as manufacturers see room for growth amid Indonesia's low per-capita alcohol consumption.Link di fonte: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2023/07/05/bintang-acquires-right-for-tiger-beer-production-sales.html (ICE GIACARTA)
