Amman, June 12 (Petra) -- The General Industrial Production Quantities index decreased by 2.52 percent in the first third of 2023, totaling 88.52 points against 90.81 in the same period of 2022.The slide was mainly attributed to a 3.24 percent reduction in quantities of transformative industries and a 0.98 percent in electricity, although extractive industry quantities rose by 3.67 percent, according to the Department of Statistics' (DoS) monthly report issued Monday.The report indicated a 4.60-percent decrease in the index during April 2023, retreating to 88.21 points compared to 92.47 in April last year.The monthly decrease was due to transformative industries going down by 5.97 percent. However, extractive industries and electricity inched up by 3.28 and 5.82 percent, respectively, in the same month. (ICE AMMAN)
