JORDAN CALLS FOR UNIFIED GLOBAL ELECTRIC GRID TO STREAMLINE GREEN ENERGY TRANSPO

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan, Hassan Hayari, emphasized the need for a unified global electric grid to facilitate the transport of green energy from countries with abundant clean energy resources to those in need. This interconnected network would not only reduce costs but also extend the benefits of green energy to all participating nations.Hayari delivered this message during a speech at the 14th session of the Committee on Energy, held in Beirut, Lebanon, as part of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).He highlighted the tangible impact of transitioning to green energy, which has become a fundamental part of our daily lives. This transition aligns with global trends, particularly the outcomes and recommendations of the Sharm el-Sheikh Climate Change Conference (COP 27). These outcomes called for increased international commitments to reducing emissions through renewable energy and energy conservation. Achieving this collective objective requires collaboration among all stakeholders.Hayari also emphasized Jordan’s role in aligning with global transformations. He mentioned the Economic Modernization Vision, launched in June 2022, which aims to elevate Jordan’s prosperity, global economic competitiveness, and overall citizen satisfaction with their quality of life.
