WORLD BANK PROVIDES $4.7MLN TO SUPPORT MUNICIPALITIES IN JORDAN

The World Bank agreed to provide Jordan with $4.7 million as a fourth additional grant for the Municipal Services and Social Resilience Project.According to data issued by the bank, the new grant aims to help Jordanian municipalities and host communities affected by the influx of Syrian refugees to enhance services and provide job opportunities for Jordanians and Syrians, and enhance their ability to support local economic development.The project contributed to improving municipal services for more than 2.8 million direct beneficiaries, 20% of whom are Syrian refugees and 47% are women, according to the bank.The project also provided more than 27,400 temporary work days, and this number is expected to exceed 110,000 work days when the project is closed, according to the data reviewed by "Al Mamlaka".
